Throughout Unit 4 Combined Arts I have maintained a reflective and analytical review of my progress in developing and applying skills for a Combined Arts Performance. The final assessed performance of our reimagined version of 'Pied Piper' took place Monday 24th January 2022 in the performance space at Suffolk One. I will now complete a SWOT analysis of my final performance. Strengths Anecdotal evidence Following the performance I received feedback from the audience members. The following comments are evidence of the strengths of the performance; They told us that we clearly communicated the themes and it was obvious by linking social media and the Piped Piper to social issues such as how social media influences people on a daily basis and manipulates them, 'An old tale can relate to modern day technology and issues.', 'Really combined everything to a really good level', 'lighting and sound was really well chosen and supported the mood', '...

What we rehearsed? In this lesson we rehearsed the whole performance, we went from the beginning to the end of the performance taking it apart and working on what needed more work than other parts. We looked at our timing and our characterisation throughout. What needed work ? I feel we needed to work on our timing in our rat duets. I think that they were being rushed through and not having 100% put into them. I feel that making them as rat like as possible will show a much bigger difference when we then go back to being human in the next section. What I need to improve? I personally feel I need to improve on my lines by taking my time to say them because at the moment I am rushing them and they are sounding messy and jumbled up. Therefore I need to slow down and process what I am saying. What skill I used effectively? I feel I used my facial expressions effectively throughout when portraying a character. I feel this was really noticeable during our rat duets and the s...

1.In small groups we were give characters to create a piece with. Our group was give children and for this we were given skipping ropes as a prop to help us create our childish characters based off the Nutcracker by Matthew Bourne. We used the section from the orphanage at Christmas. We used the skipping rope as if we weren’t allowed to have it, by being really sneaky with it and when we saw someone we put the back as soon as possible as we were ‘scared’. We use the music from swan lake, I feel this was a cheerful piece of music which helped us find our inner child. 2. I feel in the children section I really applied facial expressions and made sure they were over the top as this is something Matthew Bourne would do in the nutcracker. I also feel I put myself in the shoes of a child and felt as if this was the first time seeing a skipping rope by having my eyes light up when I figured out how to use it. 3. I feel we worked well as a team when we created our piece....

In class we were in groups of two and had to create duos using the following words and imagine we were rat like. around escape fall follow lead repeat control entrapment we created this piece by making sure our moves were fluent and together as a duo. Me and molly made sure we used different levels in our work to show the contrast between our powers at times. I feel a lot of moves were elegant, however I feel when we did lifts and trust falls, they were very controlled and made us push our comfort zones a little bit. we looked at some piece or work by Pina Bausch which were based on what we were trying to do. The work we looked at was quite animalistic which helped us by inspiring our with moves that could represent what we were trying to be. In another dance we looked at by Pina Bausch, the couple were trusting in one and other which I feel really shew me and Molly that we didn't need to worry about lifts but we just needed t...
