Pied piper workshop 5

1.In small groups we were give characters to create a piece with. Our group was give children and for this we were given skipping ropes as a prop to help us create our childish characters based off  the Nutcracker by Matthew Bourne. We used the section from the orphanage at Christmas. We used the skipping rope as if we weren’t allowed to have it, by being really sneaky with it and when we saw someone we put the back as soon as possible as we were ‘scared’. We use the music from swan lake, I feel this was a cheerful piece of music which helped us find our inner child.  2. I feel in the children section I really applied facial expressions and made sure they were over the top as this is something Matthew Bourne would do in the nutcracker. I also feel I put myself in the shoes of a child and felt as if this was the first time seeing a skipping rope by having my eyes light up when I figured out how to use it.  3. I feel we worked well as a team when we created our piece....

Pied piper exploration workshop 4: duo's

In class we were in groups of two and had to create duos using the following words and imagine we were rat like. around  escape  fall follow  lead  repeat  control  entrapment  we created this piece by making sure our moves were fluent and together as a duo.  Me and molly made sure we used different levels in our work to show the contrast between our powers at times. I feel a lot of moves were elegant, however I feel when we did lifts and trust falls, they were very controlled and made us push our comfort zones a little bit.  we looked at some piece or work by Pina Bausch which were based on what we were trying to do. The work we looked at was quite animalistic which helped us by inspiring our with moves that could represent what we were trying to be. In another dance we looked at by Pina Bausch, the couple were trusting in one and other which I feel really shew me and Molly that we didn't need to worry about lifts but we just needed t...

Pied piper exploration workshop 3

In lesson we made small sections for our Pied Piper work. In our groups we has information sheets where we had to put a script together from them. Our research sheets were about the Pied Piper being a 'musician marketer' who in modern day would be seen as an influencer.  When creating our scripts we looked for things that stood out to us and caught our eye's. We wanted our piece to be easy to understand and make sure the audience knew what we were talking about therefore we used a conversational style whilst talking and involved each person in the group.  We looked at DV8's 'can we talk about this' for inspiration. we used the idea of gestures when talking, this helps the audience understand what we are saying more as they can link the words to the gestures.  This is a piece from DV8's 'can we talk about this'. I feel we were fluent with the movements and communication to the audience. we were focused throughout, we had good diction and I felt we w...

Pied piper exploration workshop 2

https://onecollege.sharepoint.com/:v:/s/Unit4CombinedArtsPiedPiper/Ec242R8AT9xDlOnrD4dTohcB0a1gWzhw0TlJNYvMGtZSdg We created a piece of our pied piper using the movements we created last lesson in smaller groups. The piece started with mine, Molly, Ella and Joe’s piece. At certain movements of the piece we would add the rest of the class in to add effect and emphasis on those parts. We used DV8’s styles of repetition, physical theatre and bits of dialogue. Most parts have the style of unison whether it was with just my group or the whole class. This requires lots of focus and patience as we all have a lot to learn and we are all learning each others pieces as well. We used a range of dynamics in our voices to add emphasis. In a certain part where we split into 2 groups,1 person says ‘I love my life’ and the other says ‘ I hate my life’. We use the volume of our voices to compete with each other and gradually get louder and louder. I feel there was good focus through the lesson as...
